Horizon Health is seeking a Full-Time Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in any Horizon Health Location. Remote options available for the right candidate. Under the direct supervision of the Chief Medical Officer, the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner provides direct patient care for patients in need. The organization is looking for a highly professional individual with strong communication skills and committed to coordinating, in conjunction with the primary care providers, all aspects of care for the patients served. Successful candidates for this position should be passionate about providing high-quality, patient centered care. This position has potential to be remote for the right candidate.

*Requires licensure as a Certified Nurse Practitioner of Psychiatric Mental Health. Must be licensed in the state of South Dakota.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Medication management: includes both initiating pharmacological treatment and follow-up evaluation of therapeutic and side effects of psychotropic medications (within the scope of practice allowed in the State of South Dakota).
  • Provides psychiatric health care to patients, according to established evidence-based guidelines of clinical practice. Performance of the initial intake evaluation; demographic information, chief complaint, precipitating event, treatment history and medical history.
  • Making a tentative medical diagnosis and instituting therapy or referral; prescribing medication; assisting in follow-up treatment of psychiatric disorders.
