Horizon Health in Huron, SD is seeking a Full Time Certified Medical Assistant or Medical Receptionist to provide patient care at the front desk as well as nursing care to patients in an outpatient clinic setting. We are looking for candidates who are passionate about delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. Horizon Health offers a collaborative, team-oriented work environment focused on meeting the needs of individual patients while supporting and contributing to the health and wellness of our communities. 

This position will be providing acute and walk in care for Horizon Express Clinic. This position comes with a 4 day work week of Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Hours 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. 

 *Medical Assistants must be certified through an accredited program. 

Key Responsibilities: 
  • Provide customer service that ensures the patient experience from beginning to end of appointment is focused on service rooted in Horizon Health values, while also successfully dealing with patient grievances, concerns or complaints that may surface.
  • Manage the appointment schedule. 
  • Coordinate patient care with Horizon Health care team. 
  • Provide patient education including but not limited to patient overall health management, initiation of referral management for the patient care, care coordination for preventative and specialty visits and development of care plans including self-management plans and goal initiation.
  • Initiate and perform nursing skills (as per scope of license) including injections as ordered by provider, vaccinations, labs, x-rays and other tests. On the Job training for labs and x-rays.
